By: Ryan Narendra

Wind energy power is something that many governments are now taking very seriously because the world today needs more electricity and especially energy that is clean and renewable. Many governments in fact are now turning to wind power as a better means of generating electricity as compared to generating electricity from plants running on hydro, coal or even nuclear power.

It is surprising to learn that wind energy power is actually a variant of solar power because you get wind from the heat given off by the sun. Solar radiation also affects each and every part of our world but there will be changes in speed and uniformity of this solar radiation. Furthermore, each kind of surface ‘ whether it is water, sand, stone or different kinds of soil ‘ will absorb or retain or even reflect and also give off heat at varying rates.

This means that our atmosphere will heat or cool at different rates and when air moves it gives rise to wind. This wind contains kinetic energy and so if the right technologies are used it is possible to capture the kinetic energy from the wind and then it is just a matter of converting this energy into electricity or even mechanical power. This is essence is what is known as wind power.

Wind has been used from the very earliest days and the windmills in distant China and in Persia as well as in Europe have all been making use of wind power ‘ but mostly to pump out water or to grind grain.

It is only now that we are using this form of energy to create clean as well as renewable energy that can be used to power up homes as well as offices.

It is therefore necessary that responsible governments ensure that wind power be made a component of long-term energy solutions as this is really a good alternative to using the traditional fossil based electricity generation methods.

I thought you may be interested in reading some of the bullet points contained in this post about cheap living and wind solar power
