Generation Electricity
A Brief Guide To Generation Electricity
By: Ryan Narendra
The principles of generation electricity were first discovered in the early nineteenth century and the one to do this was a British scientist whose name was Michael Faraday. He used a simple method which we are still using even today. The generation of electricity requires movement of a wire loop or copper disc between a magnet’s poles.
This process of generation electricity takes place at the end of the electricity utility companies after which other processes such as transmission and distribution have to be completed before the end user (the consumer) gets electricity in their homes and offices.
In most cases electricity is generated at giant power stations where huge generators that are mostly driven by heat engines create the electricity that powers up homes and entire cities as well. There are several different methods that you can use in order to generate electricity.
One method is through use of turbines while another method is that of using reciprocating engines and third method is through use of photovoltaic panels. Besides these methods there are several other methods that can also be employed.
The United States is certainly the leader in so far as electricity production goes and the demand for electricity too is highest in America. It is believed that a quarter of all the electricity generated in the world is produced and consumed in the US with countries such as China and Japan as too Russia following close behind.
The trouble with conventional methods of generating electricity is that the processes involved result in a lot of pollution to the environment and there is also too much of greenhouse gases emitted. Here again, the US is one of the main polluting countries ‘ accounting as it does for about forty percent of all emissions ‘ which is the largest for any one country. The other main source of pollution is of course emissions from vehicles.
