Cheap Living at Its Best
By: Ryan Narendra
With abundant economical turmoil we are all looking for ways to make ends meet. Many people don’t see some answers to this problem even if they are right under their noses. Here are a few pointers for cheap living to help you make ends meet or get ahead.
If someone spends ten dollars a day on gas going back and forth to work then if they can cut one day each week they can save $520 a year. Whether it’s carpooling, walking, biking, or taking public transportation, all it takes is one day each week to save a nice bit of money over a year’s time.
Make a budget for your grocery shopping each week. Look through the sale papers and make your list from what’s in them. Some stores will match prices of competitors and this will save you from driving to several different stores.
Generic brands can save you a lot of money each time you shop. Whether it is prescriptions, bath products, or groceries, every time you save a few cents it will add up. If you must buy the name brand then at least try and find it on sale or use a coupon, if you can find both then you can potentially save a good bit of money.
Utility bills eat up much of our budget each month. Keep in mind that every time you lower your thermostat by even one degree it can save you a lot. This applies to your water heater as well. Every penny you save can be used for other items.
Remember that sales are your friends. If you know you will need Christmas gifts for the next year then shop the after Christmas sales and stock up. You can save money in a variety of ways if you plan ahead and shop around. Cut back where you can and you may be amazed at what you find.
