In today’s economy it seems that most of us have less money and more month, and there is no sign of this changing. A large part of most people’s home expenses is the utility bill. Rates have risen regularly in the most parts of the country. There are ways to reduce the cost of you homes utility usage. One effective way to do this is to do solar do it yourself projects.

Solar do it yourself projects can help reduce your dependency on the utility company. This can be accomplished relatively easy. In fact saving money with a solar project may be easier than earning it. You work hard for your money and like most people you are probably tired of throwing it out the window with the power bill.

Pre-constructed solar panels are a great way of harnessing the sun’s rays and converting it to power. While these units are effective they are not necessarily affordable. The high price of installing solar units can be deterrence to switching to solar power. The good news kit that the benefits of these solar panels can be realized without the associated cost.

A solar project can be a great way to utilize solar power without the cost. These projects are relatively easy. The ease of construction and the low construction costs mean that these projects provide a rapid return on investment, which is important considering the entire purpose of this project is to keep more money in your wallet.

There are multiple solar do it yourself guides that will walk you through the process of purchasing thee necessary materials and then erecting the project and finally installing it in your home. You should look for a guide that is well written and easy to follow. It is also a good idea to find a guide that offers video instruction along with written instruction and blue prints. They should also offer you support via the phone or internet.

Solar power homes are mushrooming up everywhere in the US and there will be even more Americans whose homes are going to be powered by solar energy. The proper use of such energy really requires finding the right balance between the most essential techniques in energy conservation and generating sufficient energy to help you live comfortably.

One of the most compelling reasons to go for solar power homes is that you will be able to generate enough energy for which the costs will be minimal. Of course you should also ensure that the home is properly insulated and this means insulating the floors and walls as well as ceilings.

Remember that the more you insulate your home the better it will be in terms of energy conservation and comfort. The right kind of insulation does two thing well which is to keep heat in the home and also out of the home (in the summer).

Some other important considerations that you need to address include picking a lot where there is sufficient exposure to the sun and wind as this helps to produce energy with least amount of bother.

If you are living in areas where the weather is rather cold you need to ensure that summer windows are placed on the south side of the home and with very few facing North or West or even East. The windows should be designed in a manner that they do not take up more than roughly twelve percent of the square footage in your home.

On the other hand if you are living in warmer climates then the windows should be facing to the north and the patios should be covered with overhangs so as to prevent the sun from warming up your home more than is necessary. It is also important that you create a mudroom to prevent escape of air from the home or even to prevent air from invading the home.

By: Ryan Narendra

When it comes to DIY power sources, the possibilities are endless. People have been coming up with their own sources for power for centuries. Wind, sunlight, and water are the common ways that people get power from nature. The following examples describe a little bit about each type of power source.

Windmills- These range in all sizes and have a variety of purposes. There are mills that convert the wind’s energy into power to grind grains. Other versions are used to power sawmills, hammermills, papermills, and even for pumping water out of the ground. Some of the earliest windmills were invented in Persia in the ninth century. These ancient versions were constructed from six to twelve sails that were made from cloth. Today these creations are made from wood, metal, and even types of plastic. Most windmills used today are used to generate power for homes.

Solar Power- This technique hasn’t been around nearly as long as wind power, but it is gaining popularity. While this is a highly desired power source for sunny locations, it is still quite expensive to convert to using it.

There are two kinds of ways to harness this power; through photovoltaics and concentrating solar power. Photovoltaics converts solar radiation into DC or direct current power. Production of this type of power has been doubling yearly since it began in 2002. As for concentrated solar power, or CSP, this requires the use of mirrors and lenses for tracking sunlight. This sunlight can be used as a heat source for a power plant or concentrated onto surfaces that use photovoltaics. CSP is said to have been used in ancient China, however, it was used in 1866 to make steam for the first solar steam engine.

Hydropower- This might be the one source of power that isn’t usable by everyone in a do-it-yourself fashion, unless they have access to a large source of water. With this process, power is produced by the energy of moving water.

Large cities use this type of power to run commercial buildings, as well as residential dwellings. It can also be sued for operating machines, such as lifts, sawmills, dock cranes, and watermills. Water wheels and mills have been used in India for hundreds of years. In Rome, water was used to power the mills for grinding grain, sawing timber, and cutting stones.

When determining which DIY power source you’d like to try to harness, keep in mind what you have available to use. For instance, wanting to create your own hydropower source when living in the desert might not be a feasible choice. There are plenty of plans available online for creating any type of creation you can dream up, in order to harness these types of energy produced by nature.

Also, check out my other guide on cheap living and generation electricity

By: Ryan Narendra

Using solar energy to power everything from a small light to an entire house has been the goal for decades. Many people have begun building newer houses with solar panels already incorporated into them. There are some older homes where part or all of the house’s energy has been switched from the grid to solar panels. One of the newest inventions are roof shingles solar panels. These look like shingles, but are actually miniature solar panels.

This innovative design allows for tiny solar panels to be placed right alongside asphalt shingles. These cost anywhere from 10 to 15 percent less to install than the traditional solar panels. Solar shingles are even quicker to install than larger solar panels, due to their size and location. Another name for these miniature panels are phototvoltaic cells. There are a few different varieties of solar shingles available today.

Some solar shingles are the size of actual shingles and they will set in the place of a few asphalt shingles, therefore forming a strip of small solar shingles. There are some shingles that are the actual size of an individual asphalt shingle and contain many silicon solar cells in them. The newest version of the solar shingle looks and even flexes like an asphalt shingle by using ultra thin film solar cell technology.

These sun absorbing shingles are usually able to be stapled directly to the roofing cloth, just like a traditional shingle. However, there are some solar shingles that require a bit different mounting instructions, especially the kind that are mixed in with the asphalt shingles. While these may be able to be dispersed among the asphalt shingles, they usually have a deep purplish-blue color to them. This is sometimes a concern for people who want all their shingles to match in color.

Many homeowners find that the size of these solar shingles is much more aesthetically pleasing than the traditional solar panels. The small design of these shingles is easier to blend into the roof. While these are smaller than traditional panels, they still have to be converted from DC to AC. Houses use alternating current to power lights, appliances, etc, but solar panels and shingles produce power in direct current, hence the need for the conversion.

Assembly of houses in larger cities, especially areas where there is an ample amount of sunlight, is including roof shingles solar panels in the design. While this may bump up the price of the house a bit, it is well worth the amount of energy and money that will be saved in the future. These houses are also much more ecologically friendly than traditional houses.

By: Ryan Narendra

Being able to access the sun for power is nature’s gift to us. While there are some geographic areas that may not be conducive to full solar power, most areas will provide sufficient sunlight year round for capturing some solar power and supplementing the amount of power you use from the electric company. A home solar panel can be used to power a single large item in the house such as a hot water heater.

A home solar panel makes it possible to access the sun for supplemental electrical sources. This panel will most likely not provide power to an entire home. In fact several panels may not be sufficient to provide the full amount of electricity that you utilize but they may be enough to provide you a drastic reduction in the amount of power you use from the utility company.

There are some parts of the country where solar power may not be practical but even these areas will typically have enough sunlight to use solar power to provide power to your water heater. The water heater is typically a large amount of the power that is used in a home.

This panel will substantially reduce the amount of electricity needed to heat your hot water. These panels work in such a manner that if there is not enough power being produced from the panel then the eclectic can provide what is needed. Obviously there will be situations where the weather will affect how much power is at your access vie the home panel.

Solar panels typically are rather pricey butt there are some sources for home solar panel that will provide a solar panel for an affordable price. There are also some solar project kits that make it possible for you to build your own panel. These kits typically provide easy to follow instructions and make it possible to build a panel and install it in a single afternoon.

Countries are becoming more dedicated to their wind solar powercompanies all across the world. These sources of energy are intended to replace our sources of fuel. There is a variety of choices but there is no easy alternative to energy. There are benefits by using alternatives and one is saving our planet. If you want to start helping our planet but do not have the funds to purchase a generator, you can make an energy saver yourself.

Making wind power is not that difficult. With some basic hand and power tools, plus some dedication you can make your own wind power. There are generators with 2000 watts, which will be a big project, but there are smaller ones with 700 watts for example. If you do not know how to cut and weld steel, you may have to hire someone. Many places have machines that are strong and can produce power in the light winds.

Solar power can be just as easy and for an inexpensive price. Get yourself a small solar panel with at least 12 volts, which can be found somewhere like marine supply stores. You will need to get a deep cycle battery, not like the ones in a car, a cranking battery. If possible purchase a rechargeable battery. You will need a battery box and a 12 volt DC meter. You will need a DC input unless you want to run appliances in which you will need an inverter.

Using a drill you will attach the meter and the DC input to the top of the box. You will then connect everything to the battery, connecting the negative pole first, one wire at a time, the meter, the DC inlet and the solar panel. Close the lid, set outside and charge for 5-8 hours. Soon you will be able to run the radio, small lights and fans. Larger panels may be added also.

Using a solar wind power alternative can save you up to 90 percent in energy. It will save you money and save the environment. Every little bit helps and this includes the money in your pocket and out planet. By using other energy alternatives you and sharing with others about how easy it is, you will make a difference to your life and your planets.

What exactly is solar green, is it a new shade of paint that you should put on your living or bedroom walls, or is it the new color of money? Well in fact it is a new color for your home and can be the color of money. You see solar green is actually the color of success.

When you covert your home to solar power you are doing several things. You are covering your house with a new system that provides it with power; consequently your entire home is now eco-friendly or ‘green’. Not only will your homes electrical power be generated from the solar panels on your roof but it will also mean that you will drastically reduce the amount of power your dependent on the utility company for.

By reducing your dependency on the utility company you will dramatically reduce the amount of money you spend on your power bills. Which will mean there is more money in your wallet for other things and therefore your money is suddenly greener. This savings will allow you to do things you may n to have been able to do.

As has been expressed your home is greener since it is less dependent on other power sources. The less energy you use the less the effect on the environment and the planet. If you and your neighbors got into the solar energy game, then you would all be having a profound effect on the planet.

This can be accomplished extremely easily. One afternoon can be spent building a solar panel system for your home and provide you with an instant reduction in the cost of utilities your home is using. This project will build for you a solar green, and put more green back into your wallet. Saving money is just one of the great benefits of going green.

The effect that we as humans have on the planet has been detrimental and as result there is a major emphasis placed on finding measures to reduce the impact that the human race has on the earth. You are probably very aware of all the emphasis that has been placed on the earth recently. You may recycle and wonder how you can get involved in being greener friendly. It is actually possible to convert your home into your own personal green system.

We are causing our planet to suffer from many serious problems we have the ability to reduce the pain that is being inflicted on the planet. The main reason for these problems has been the way that people use energy. We are being greedy, but it is not too late to change our ways.

We do have the ability to heal the planet and reduce the amount of energy we use. Solar energy is one of the optimum ways of reducing the effect that we have on the planet.

While you may think that you are limited in how you can help you will be surprised to find out that your home can have a big impact on the environment. Building a solar panel system o your home reduces your dependence on the energy that is generated by the utility company. This will also reduce the amount of your utility bills drastically.

You may have heard that solar panels are expensive and that it takes time for you to realize the benefit of your investment. This simply is not true. It is possible to build your own solar panels and install them on your roof. This project will take only a few hours and will be easily installed on your roof. There are several sources for easy to follow step by step instructions. This simple project will reduce your utility bills and will help you to create your own green system.

By: Ryan Narendra

Solar power home is a very popular item that helps to change things socially and which helps to provide cheaper energy for any home. If you have ever driven through one of the more upscale neighborhoods you would not have failed to have seen homes with a solar panel on their roofs or garages and even their carports.

Solar power home is now quite common and using solar panels does mean that most conventional energy requirements can will be met and in addition these panels can also generate sufficient power to drive a luxury item such as a hot tub and even a pool. With the help of such panels homes are now becoming energy efficient and energy sufficient and it also means getting cheaper electricity.

You will however need to pick from two main types of solar panels which are the solar thermal collectors and also the photovoltaic varieties. The latter are the type that most people believe is the best option and these panels can easily be installed after which they gather and then transfer energy from the sun and help convert this energy into electricity.

Solar thermal collectors on the other hand make use of the sun’s heat and will then heat up water in order to capture steam energy. Such an option is ideally suited for use in small locations where you won’t want to install steam turbines to generate electricity.

By adding either a photovoltaic module or solar thermal collectors to the home you get a non invasive solution that will generate sufficient and cheap electricity for your home. It also means getting clean energy and there is no risk of it polluting the environment either.

Furthermore, sunshine is a renewable source of energy and so there is nothing to worry about it running out on us ‘ at least not in the foreseeable future ‘ and using it costs nothing either.
